It is quite possible that my idea has already been voiced in Maxim’s thread. But since the topic became very widespread and I was too lazy to read, I decided to put it in a separate post.
So, why, in my humble opinion, is piracy so fiercely popular in Russia??
(opinion is based solely on what I see and hear, I do not pretend to be objective)
Why do people download games? -> Because they are downloaded mainly by children/young animals.
Why do they download games?? -> Because they don’t have… no, not money. Finding money is not a problem. They have no respect for developers. Although today we (the younger generation) generally have big problems with respect for other people’s work. We’re all big shots.
And in general, in Russia we treat games as something exclusively for children. I haven’t seen many adults who are interested in this topic.
Well, yes, “sweet vinegar for free”. Although it’s funny at times: a person downloads a pirated game and then spends a week attacking the pirates, spitting and complaining, saying they’ve become completely insolent.
I can say one thing about myself: I rarely play, so I don’t download much. And what I liked, although belated, I try to buy. At the same time, I love repacks. Having a licensed Fallout 3 disc, along with it I keep a repack from Mechanics with built-in additions. New Fallout and Mafia 2 are planned for this fall.

Of course, obviously masterpiece projects like Mafia 2 are a separate issue! I have already allocated a decent amount of pennies for her! Because I want to enjoy this game!

And Alcatraz was created in the expectation that a person would come up and stupidly buy it in a store, so I don’t see any sin here at all.
